Abstract:
Home textiles are cloths and fabrics used as part of home furnishings. They make our lives more comfortable, and give our interiors a defined aesthetic characteristic. To be clear, home textiles are not just any textile within a residence. For example, your clothes are not home textiles, even if you are wearing them at home. Home textiles are specifically tied to the interior of a residence, functionally and aesthetically. In order to enhance its aesthetic value numbers of researches are going on. Some of them are described in this paper. First just see fabrics coming under home textile.

Application of fluorescence and phosphorescence:
What is Fluorescence and Phosphorescence?
Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation. It is a form of luminescence. In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength, and therefore lower energy, than the absorbed radiation. The most striking example of fluorescence occurs when the absorbed radiation is in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum, and thus invisible to the human eye, while the emitted light is in the visible region, which gives the fluorescent substance a distinct colour that can be seen only when exposed to UV light. Fluorescent materials cease to glow nearly immediately when the radiation source stops.
Phosphorescence is a type of photoluminescence related to fluorescence. Unlike fluorescence, a phosphorescent material does not immediately re-emit the radiation it absorbs. The absorbed radiation is re-emitted at a lower intensity for up to several hours after the original excitation.

Most Likely fabrics
Among this entire product described above the most likely to apply fluorescence and phosphorescence are the bedroom products because the aesthetic value bedroom, office, showrooms matters more than the kitchen and bathroom products. Taking consideration of human mentality each of us wants to see our office, bedroom, showroom clean and royal.

Application method
Fluorescence and phosphorescence are available in pigment form. They can be applied by the coating technics. Poly vinyl chloride is used as the binder for the fluorescence and phosphorescence pigment as the film formed by the poly vinyl  chloride is transparent which gives a clear view of fluorescence and phosphorescence effect. The application method is mostly similar to the pigment printing.
If only fluorescence is applied on the fabric then the desired effect of emission of visible light occurs in day time only as fluorescence is an immediate effect after absorption of UV light. On the other hand if phosphorescence applied alone then the desired effect will be seen in the night time as phosphorescence absorb light stores the light energy  and   re-emit it in dark. The best method is to apply both in combination so as to get day-night.

Fragrance finishing of textiles is one of the processes which enhance the value of the product by adding various odours to it.

Need of fragrance finish in home textile product:
This increase in demand, as well as tremendous competition in the market, opens up opportunities for value addition to all forms of textile materials. The effective change has to be implemented in the market. By this extensive analysis, fragrance finishing is considered as emerging area and which has tumble-down the textile industry with lively value added finish by incorporating different fragrances into fabrics, leading to the production of fragranced fabrics.

Application:
Padding Method
  • The fabric is padded with above recipe
  • Fragrance: 10% of weight of fabric.
  • Padding pressure 2kg/cm2
  • Dry and cure at 70oC-120 C (1-5 min.)


Exhausting
  • Prepare the recipe with water up to desired concentration
  • Exhaust at 40 C for 20 - 30 min.
  • Hydro extract water
  • Use Fragrance : 5-10% on weight of fabric


Conclusion:
Home textile is vast subject and its value is increasing day by day. To keep future of home textile bright research and trend analysis are must.
